"Soul Train" was the first solo exhibition offered to me by Jacques Kaplan. His love for modern and contemporary art stimulated a collection of works by such masters as DeKooning and his contemporaries. Jacques created the caboose gallery(actually an old train caboose) to reflect his passion in the arts. He loved to show the great modern masters and also to discover the next generation. Given the opportunity, I decided to do an exhibition that would play on the symbolism of the gallery as a train and all the interior would be hung with portraits of the spirit world and our journey together on the Soul Train. I also created a book of poetry based on this theme that was transformed into an audio recording. My close friend and actor, Barry Kramer recited the poetry with duduk music playing in the background. His soothing voice mixed with the haunting tones of the duduk set the ambiance for this reincarnate themed train ride.
